’64 Volvo P 1800

This project began with a clean, running car sourced from out west and shipped to TMG for complete disassembly and stripping to bare steel. While the body was being prepared, TMG collaborated with designer Eric Black to create a vintage-inspired street race car, featuring subtle body modifications for tire clearance. Working with The Roadster Shop, TMG engineered a custom unibody suspension system designed to install with minimal sheet-metal changes. After ensuring the turbocharged inline Ford EcoBoost engine would fit, Roadster Shop manufactured the front and rear suspension components. This build represents a unique fusion of classic style and modern engineering precision.

Beginnings

We began this project with a clean running and driving car the customer located out west and had it shipped directly to us to begin disassembly and to strip the body shell down to bare steel. While this work was happening we were working in the background with Eric Black designing a special vintage inspired race car for the street with some needed body modifications for necessary tire clearances.

Unibody Suspension

TMG worked closely with The Roadster Shop to scan and custom engineer a one-off weld-in front and rear suspension that will install with as minimal modifications to the sheet metal as possible. After all the engineering was reviewed and dialed in making sure the turbocharged inline Ford Ecoboost engine would fit, RS manufactured the front and rear suspension.
